Personally, I love Mediterranean foods and way of eating. Everything is always so fresh and delicious. I’ve been making Tzatziki sauce pretty regularly, thanks to my garden patio. I use it to dip veggies, marinate chicken, or create a gyro. This week I’m going to share my version of Tzatziki sauce as well as my take on a super simple gyro. The sauce itself takes about 5 minutes and is enough for a few meals. Add another 5 and you will have the gyro.

Tzatziki Sauce
1 single serving container of plain Greek yogurt (about 1 cup)
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 cup diced cucumber (about half an average size cucumber)
1 tablespoon fresh diced dill
1 teaspoon chopped garlic (you could easily use garlic powder)
salt and pepper to taste.
What makes my recipe a bit different of the traditional Tzatziki is I add 1/2 cup of chopped onion. I also have a secret ingredient, mint! I use one or two mint leaves and dice them very fine.
Put everything in a bowl and mix it all together. That is all it takes!

One of my favorite things to use Tzatziki for is gyros. In addition to the sauce all you need is a protein and a few diced tomatoes. Shove it all into a pita pocket, toss some feta in, and you’re good to go!

So simple and quick! Let me know if you have any fun variations! Happy Creating!
